Alastair Shepherd
Alastair graduated from Aberdeen University in 1980, and joined HBJ Gateley Wareing in 1988. He has been involved in top end property both in Edinburgh and across Scotland ever since. Alastair’s particular specialism is in the rural/agricultural market, but he is equally at home in the "urban" market. He acts for some of the most active property developers in Edinburgh.

Carol Smith
Carol's background is in conveyancing and she has experience in all types of purchase, sale and remortgage transactions, acting for both clients and lenders. Over the years, Carol noted many changes in the property market and therefore it is essential she keeps a keen eye on the situation at any given time in order to adapt and to advise clients accordingly. Client care and success are Carol's goals and she find this, along with the stimulation of interaction with clients and others, gives her immense satisfaction in her job.

Catherine Taylor

Catherine Taylor joined HBJ Gateley Wareing in 2005 after the merger with them of her own niche practice of Taylor Kinross. Advising on sales and purchases for the past 30 years, her knowledge of the market place is extensive particularly, but not limited to, the residential market. Catherine is a graduate of Edinburgh University and prior to qualifying she was instrumental in setting up one of Edinburgh's first Property Departments. Catherine has much experience in buying all over Scotland and is able to assist on all aspects of buying and selling property.



Chris Kinross
Chris has been involved in residential, commercial and rural property in Scotland for some 30 years, having been a partner in the firm of Taylor Kinross for 8 years before joining HBJ Gateley Wareing. He has dealt with all aspects of acquisition, mortgage and disposal of residential properties and rural estates and the acquisition and packaging of commercial property including commercial leasing, clawback arrangements and options.

Keith Ross
Keith is an honours graduate of Glasgow University and has broad experience in property, both residential and commercial, working in various firms in Glasgow. He has extensive knowledge of the Glasgow property market and is well equipped to guide clients through the property maze.

Liz Ford
Liz is an Edinburgh University graduate who joined the HBJ Gateley Wareing Property Team in March 2006. She is the Sales Administrator in the team, responsible for dealing with property enquiries from both the clients and the general public, carrying out administration to support the systems we have in place for a smooth running property department, and providing a valuable secretarial backup to the property manager and property solicitors.

Michelle Harrison
Michelle graduated from Napier University in 1994 and joined HBJ Gateley Wareing in February 2008. She is the Sales Coordinator in the team, responsible for producing the property schedules, updating the websites, ESPC inserts and property advertising. She also deals with property enquiries from clients, the public and other companies.

Ross Mackay
Ross is an Honours Graduate from Aberdeen University in 1980 and qualified in 1982. He became a partner in 1986 and joined HBJ Gateley Wareing in 1994 as head Residential Property partner. Presently he holds the position of Chair of the Edinburgh Conveyancers’ Forum and he is also a member of the Law Society of Scotland Conveyancing Committee.
